Research Grants
Application
Letter of Inquiry
If you are interested in applying, the first step is to write a brief letter of inquiry to SIAI at grants@singinst.org. This will allow us to make a preliminary recommendation of whether a full application should be submitted, ensuring that your time is conserved as much as possible.
Grant Application
Applications should be submitted via the following:
Email your grant application to grants@singinst.org. An application should only be sent if you received a positive response to your letter of inquiry.

Resubmission Statement
If the current application is a resubmission of a previously unsuccessful application, you must include a resubmission statement (800 words or less). Describe how this application differs from your prior submission and how you have addressed referee comments on your prior application.
Advanced Doctoral Students
Advanced doctoral students must send separately a signed letter of support from their advisor before their application will be considered.
Project Budget
You must submit a detailed budget with your application. Please provide only the items and amounts for which SIAI funding is requested. If your project is dependent on funding from more than one source, provide evidence of the feasibility of your project if that funding is not forthcoming. Approved grant funding is disbursed by checks drawn on a U.S. bank in U.S. dollars. All amounts included in your budget must be in U.S. dollars.
SIAI will consider budget requests for salaries, employee benefits, research assistantships, supplies and equipment, essential travel costs, essential secretarial and technical help, and other items necessary to the successful completion of the research project. SIAI does not supply funds to support meetings or conferences, travel to meetings, or self-education.
Peer Reviewers
Applicants are invited to suggest names of individuals (including their academic affiliation) who are especially qualified to evaluate their proposal. Suggested reviewers do not need to be personally known by the applicant. Suggestions will be considered, but final selections are made by SIAI.
