Deadline

1. Applications must be sent by [Date] for a decision in [Month].
2. SIAI has a two-stage review process:
   
   • Stage One: Applications are screened against SIAI's Evaluation Criteria. Applicants will be notified regarding whether they are successful at this stage, generally 3 months after the deadline.
   • Stage Two: Successful applications are sent to an external panel for academic review. Recommendations are then made and presented to the SIAI Final Selection Board. The Board determines by vote which applications are awarded. Applicants will be informed of the decision no later than [Date].
3. SIAI strongly discourages applicants from calling or emailing to inquire about the status of their application. The applicant will be contacted by SIAI if any additional information is needed to process their application.
4. Applicants should only contact SIAI in the instance of not receiving an email from us shortly after submitting their application or initial inquiry.
5. Continued support for a research project after one calendar year may be requested. Continuation of funding is contingent upon a satisfactory report of research progress, a detailed budgetary spending report showing how the grant award was used, and submission of a 1-3 page report showing why SIAI should continue to fund the initial project.
