Evaluation

1. Applications will be evaluated on the quality of the proposed research and its potential contribution to knowledge in one of SIAI's focus areas.
2. SIAI looks for three essential characteristics in the applications:
   • A well-defined research problem, objective, or question
   • A sound assessment of what the research can achieve
   • A clear explanation of the significance of the research
3. Applications for the renewal of currently funded projects will be judged on the basis of the degree to which additional resources will allow the applicant to build on the objectives of the research that is currently funded. The applicant must show clear evidence that the original objectives have been achieved and that an additional period of funding would significantly enhance the overall contribution of the research.
